When you bring a new pet into your home, you must consider the feeling of the other pets you already have. Especially, if the other animals have been, with you for quite sometime; humans do not think that animals have feeling or feel mental pain this is untrue an animal’s feelings are very real.

When you bring a new pet into your home your other pets may begin to mark things of your to show the new pet that you belong to them and them alone. The jealousy can also manifest in anger or aggression towards the new animal. If the new pet tries to get close to you, the other pet or pets may snap, growl, or even attack the new pet.
Of course, this can also be a way of showing the new pet that he or she is last in the order of the pack. This is an instinctive trait and is not one that can be, corrected easily.
Therefore, what can you do to prevent this mental pain and hurt your other one have if you introduce a new pet in your home? Well one thing is to slowly, bring the new pet into the picture. Allow only a few brief encounters a day or a week. This will give the other pet’s time to get used to the new pet.
You can also pay less attention to the new pet once you do bring the new pet home. Pick up or hold the other pets the same as before the new pet arrived this will make the others feel secure and that you have not replaced them.
Let another family member tend to the needs of the new pet this way you are not taking your attentions away from the other pets this will help tremendously. You must think of the other pets feeling as much as they think and care about your feeling.
